Family History Certificate Requirements
This certificate is offered by the History department at the BYU Provo Campus. It is not the certificate program previously offered by the Independent Study program. For that reason at least one of the courses taken must be taken in the classroom. Those not matriculated as day students at BYU Provo can still register and take classes on the Provo Campus in the evening school and during Spring and Summer terms. BYU Salt Lake Center classes also can be taken by anyone and count toward the classes taken at BYU requirement.
Certificate Requirements
- Complete the following:
- Complete one course from the following:
- Hist 420, 421, 422, 423, 424, 425
- Complete 6 hours from the following:
- Hist 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 408R, 409R, 410R, 411R, 412, 413, 414, 415, 416
- Complete 6 hours from the following:
- Hist 480, 481R, 482, 496R, or a general history course in the geographic area of specialization
